When they hear the answer for the first time, most people are shocked: seven, including the computer casing. Yep, you read that correctly. Just seven components are required to assemble a PC for average users (six if an optical drive is not installed).

The main printed circuit board (PCB) in a computer is called the motherboard. All components and external peripherals connect to a computer's motherboard, which serves as its main communications hub. Virtually all computers, notably desktop and laptop PCs, contain motherboards.

A computer's internal components receive low-voltage, regulated DC power from a power supply unit (PSU), which converts mains AC. Switched-mode power supply are utilised by all contemporary personal computers. While some power supplies automatically adjust to the mains voltage, others offer a manual switch for choosing the input voltage.
5. Hard Drive:-
It's crucial to understand that there are two different kinds of hard drives before moving on:
A. Hard Disk Drive(HDD):
This is your (traditional) mechanical hard drive that stores data on spinning disks. Compared to solid state drives, they are slower, drain more electricity and are more prone to physical failures... but they make it up with bigger storage capacities and cheaper prices (per MB)
B. Solid State Drive (SSD):
The future of hard disc technology is solid state drives. Solid state drives can read and write data more quickly, multitask better, and withstand more punishment since they are driven by electronic controllers (which have no moving parts). The major drawback is that they are significantly more expensive and may experience firmware issues (being a less mature technology).

There are various kinds of DVD drives, with DVD-RW drives being the most widespread:
- DVD-ROM Drive: Can only read DVD discs
- DVD-R Drive: Can read and record/write data to DVD-R discs once
- DVD-RW Drive: Can read and rewrite (record and erase) data to DVD-RW discs multiple times.
